Bioprocess technology is the industrial application of biological processes
involving living cells or their components to effect desired transformation
of substrates. The major advantages of bioprocesses over traditional
chemical processes are that they require mild reaction conditions, are
more specific and efficient, and produce renewable by-products (biomass).
